After-School
Tutoring
When: Mondays-Thursdays
Time: 2:45-3:45 p.m. (Grade: 9-12); 3:00-4:00 p.m. (Grade: 7-8)
Where: MSHS
Grades: 7-12
Cost: $40/4 sessions; $70/8 sessions; $130/16 sessions
Tutoring in math and other subjects for students in grades
7-12 will be offered at MSHS. All sessions will be staffed by a
secondary certified teacher and high school student assistants.
Students must pre-register and

What: Folk (Ballroom)
Dancing
When: January 23 - April 3
Time: 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Where: Superior Hills Gym
Instructor: Bob Railey
Cost: $40
Learn the basic steps of European ballromm dancing as they
are most commonly used in folk dances (waltz, polka, schottische,
two-step, simple pivot, czardas). You do not need a partner to participate.
Persons attending must wear soft soled shoes and be high school
age or older. (Note: class will not be held on February 20 &
27 and March 20.)

Trim & tone, warm up, and cool down. Learn proper stretching
techniques. Open to all, regardless of age or sex. Bring your own
mat if you desire. Class meets Tuesday and Thursday nights; you
can sign up for one
night or both. (Note: classes will not be held on March 21 &
23 and April 13.)
What: Fresh Flower Arrngement
When: February 21 - April 11
Time: 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Where: Forsberg Flowers
Instructor: Bonnie Grant
Cost: $55 + $80 lab fee
Class Limit: 15
This class will give you skills and the confidence to make
beautiful flower arrangements for you home. The class meets at Forsberg
Flowers on Third Street. Lab fee, which covers all flowers and materials
used in the arrangements that you will make, is payable to the instructor
the first night of class.

Cooking Classes!
Julie
Ann Thompson from "Julianne's - A Unique Food Enterprise"
Julie Ann will share her background on international home cooking
through preparation of easy, fast, and fun recipes. Do not eat before
class; we will consume our creations and often take home leftovers,
so bring containers with you to class. All classes are held on Tuesdays
from 7-9 p.m. at MSHS in Room 126. Class limit is 20. Cost for each
class is $18 and must be paid for at least 2 days prior to class.

What: ATV/ORV Class
When: May 3

Where: MSHS Little Theatre

Riding Session will be on Saturday, May 6 or Sunday, May
7 (TBA). This FREE class is part of a requirement for ATV/ORV safety
certification. The time for the riding section of the exam will
be scheduled
during the classroom session. Please use the canopy entrance on
the east side of the building to enter the HS. Free study guides
are available for pick-up at the Community Schools office at 1103
W. College Avenue. Parents are required to attend with their
child. Pre-registration is required; call Community Schools at 225-5290.

Taught
by members of the Marquette Food Co-op, each class meets from 7-9
p.m. at MSHS in Room 126 and costs $10 per class. Co-opmembers who
attend will receive a $3 MFC coupon. Pre-registration is required
by calling 225-5290; there is 15 person limit so call early!
- January 25
(register by January 23) - "Warming Winter Soups": Nutritious
and easy soups utilizing bulk grains and beans from the co-op,
as well as root vegetables and fresh greens. (Instructor: Mary

- Fegruary
22 (register by February 21) - "Gluten Free Cooking &
Baking": Using gluten free
grains and other natural products to create tempting, healthy
meals. Gluten free doesn't have to be bland and boring. (Instructor:
Natasha Gill)
- March 8 (register
by March 6) - "Baking with Alternative Sweeteners":
Learning to use natural sweeteners other than refined white sugar.
Come get practical advice on how to use these wonderful tasty
alternatives to make your baked goods taste out of this world.

Class is offered to children 4 years old and up. They meet
Monday-Friday for two weeks. Parents are welcome the first day.
Last day is Family Day. Boys MUST use the men's changing room, and
girls MUST use the women's changing room. Swim instructors are available
to assist your child should you desire. Approximately 3 students
per instructor for beginners; 4 students per instructor for more
advanced swimmers.

Students must be at least 15 years of age to enroll. This
3-week class includes CPR, First Aid, and AED training. Class size
is limited. Registration fee includes Red Cross materials.
What: Dog Sledding Internship

Where: Snowy Plains Kennel (10 miles south of MQT)
Instructor: J & Jim Winkowski
Cost: $50 per person
Learn the basics of dog sledding, from becoming acquainted
with Alaskan husky sled dogs, to dog care, to riding in a sled,
or driving a dog team. This is a one on one, hands-on experience
for all ages that can be completed in one to two sessions.
Flexible scheduling through the Snowy Plains Kennel, 10
miles south of Marquette. One or two people per session. Includes

Tricks, and Time Savers

Course content will focus on making daily computer tasks
such as using copy and paste and making a shortcut faster and easier.
Intermediate and advanced tips will cover topics such as the Internet
and e-mail
use as well as word processing. Additional topics will be determinded
by class participants and instructors will share their favorite
tips.
